Day 22: A Ride On The Zodiac Sail Boat
Last year while visiting my grandparents we took a ride on the Zodiac Schooner, a massive sailboat that takes you around the San Juan Islands. Since my dad and Tamara have yet to experience the joy of riding the Zodiac, Mammie and Papa got us tickets for a dinner and sail tonight. I don't use the word massive loosely, the 1920's boat has 127 feet of deck! The captain let my dad steer the boat for a good amount of the time, throwback to dads naval days (Photo 1) according to dad the navy stands for "never again volunteer yourself," but that didn't stop him from helping hoist the main mass sails. Actually, it took almost the entire boat crew and passengers to get this sail up. I might have been freezing because of the wind (photo 2- attempting to avoid the chilly breeze), but I had a great time on the ride!
I think the Zodiac may have to be a yearly event! It is so much fun and a really good dinner to complete the trip!
